PREFC Response to COVID-19 - (3/18/20)

Pleasant Ridge Family,

Our mission as a church is to know Christ and to make Him known. As we reflect upon the events that are unfolding in our country, we recognize that we have an opportunity to make Christ known by the way we respond to COVID-19.

We do not need to respond in fear, but in faith. As I shared on Sunday morning, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear though the earth gives way” (Psalm 46:1-2). God is in our midst, and His perfect plan will be accomplished.

As we trust in the Lord in this time, we must also respond with obedience and love. Therefore, out of obedience to governing authorities and a love for our neighbors, we are canceling all worship services and activities until further notice.

Sunday Morning Livestream

Though we long to be together each Sunday, and encourage one another in love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25), we recognize the unique situation that we are facing. Therefore, though not a replacement for our church gathering, we will livestream our Sermons each Sunday morning. We will also provide the Order of Service. This will enable us to continue to grow together in Christ through prayer, singing, and the proclamation of the Word.

No Wednesday Evening Activities

We are canceling our Wednesday night activities until further notice. Wednesday nights are a blessing for so many, as we fellowship with one another, and as we are fed with God’s Word. It is an enjoyable time of sharing and encouraging one another. If you have a specific prayer request, please contact one of the elders or those in your group.

  1. Pursue the Lord. Use this as a time to read God’s Word and refocus your life around Jesus Christ. Use this as a time to grow in your personal relationship with Him.
  2. Pray. Ask God to protect our church and community from disease and illness. Ask God to bring peace to those who are anxious and fearful. Ask God to give wisdom and strength to our governing authorities and health care providers. Ask God to use this to spread the Gospel, while we seek to stop the spread of COVID-19.
  3. Share your needs. If you have any immediate needs, please let others know. You can also contact Pastor Chaun by phone (712-790-7292) or email pastorchaun@hotmail.com.
  4. Help those in need. Check-in on one another. Call people to see if they have any specific requests or needs. Serve one another by meeting the practical needs that arise in our church or community.

In Christ,

Pastor Chaun
